Becoming a Kingdom church for the glory of God
MissionsCornerstone is a church that believes in the Great Commission Jesus gave to His disciples. Matthew 28:19-20 says, "Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching then to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (NIV)
Cornerstone is a "Global Priority Church" as designated by the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. We have "adopted" missionaries in Kenya and Zimbabwe which we support with our prayers, gifts and time. We have sent teams of evangelists to Kenya, Africa in 1995, 1997, 1999, 2003, 2006, & 2008 ** SEE COMMENTS & PICTURES BELOW**
In addition to Kenya, we have sent three teams to Detroit, Michigan in the early 90's in partnership with the Detroit Baptists. We also sent a team to Eagle River, Alaska in 2001, Talkeetna, Alaska in July 2002, North Pole, Alaska in June 2003. In July 2004 Jack Hutchins represented Cornerstone on a mission team from Garner First Baptist to Sabah, Malaysia. In June 2005 we sent a team to Puebla, Mexico. Through God's blessings we have seen thousands all over the world come to know the Lord as their Savior & Lord.
Cornerstone also reaches out to our community through the Landmark Nursing Home, Prodigals Community, Crisis Control, Salem Pregnancy, and Samaritan Ministries supporting them with our time, talents, and gifts.

Kenya 2008... On June 16 a group of seventeen volunteers from Cornerstone(11), Dunn's Mountain Baptist(Salisbury)(4), Hilltop Baptist(Thomasville)(1), and Westchapel Methodist(Asheboro)(1) departed for our sixth missionary journey to beautiful Kenya. We had been planning this trip for fifteen months. We served the Lord in three areas close to Kisumu Kenya. They were Miwani, Ombeyi, and Ogilo. We were there for two weeks planting three new Baptist Churches and witnessing hut-to-hut and in fifteen high schools. The hours were long, the roads were rough and the heat was sometimes almost unbearable but through all of this 3,130 natives asked Jesus into their hearts. We also held a baptism in a river where 87 people were baptized. This was a trip that we introduced eleven new missionaries to Kenya and it's beautiful land and people.
