Scott Daniel

Senior Pastor

Alex DiPrima, Pastor of Emmanuel Church of Winston-SalemPastor Scott grew up in Greenville, South Carolina, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. He became a Christian at sixteen after his best friend convinced him to come on an evangelistic retreat where God opened his eyes to see the beauty of the Gospel, leading him to repent of his sins and place faith in Christ. Not entirely sure how the Lord intended to use him, Scott attended a small Christian college in Tennessee, majoring in Philosophy and Religion. Throughout college Scott learned more about the Bible and Gospel and was increasingly given ministry opportunities. By his junior year, he was being encouraged to pursue seminary in preparation for full-time ministry.

After graduation, Scott enrolled at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky in 2004 to begin work on an advanced theology degree. Throughout seminary he was able to grow in his understanding of the Bible’s teaching on the local church, working on staff at Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. and Sojourn Community Church in Louisville. Towards the end of seminary, Scott met his wife Maria, got married and started having children—a busy few years!

In 2014, the Daniels moved to Holden, Maine for Scott to pastor Grace Bible Church, where he served for eight and a half years. While the congregation in Maine was wonderful and the ministry was fruitful, Scott felt a growing conviction that he really needed to be pastoring a church that held an exclusively believers baptist position. As our Faithful Father does, He made the path clear through a like-minded pastor in Winston-Salem commending Cornerstone Baptist to Scott in the beginning of 2022. In God's kindness the Daniel family, all seven of them (Norah, Jude, Annie, Hayes, and Emmy), made the big move down South in the summer of 2022!

Pastoral ministry is Scott’s dream job. He still can’t believe he gets paid to teach the Bible and shepherd Christians. Aside from reading theology, history and law, Scott loves college football, kids cereal and playing whiffle ball with Jude and Hayes.
